Where are you located? |
Between the Cape Fear River and beach |
How long have you been a band |
3 years |
What inspired you to make music together? |
We work well together. I've played in different bands with all these guys so it was just a matter of pulling from what's worked and been comfortable situations and musical relationships from the past. |
What does your band name mean? |
Our grief is so nice we named it twice. |
How do you describe your music to people? |
Punk rock with a sense of melody and some heavy and hardcore parts played by fans of pop music. But mostly just punk rock is the easiest way. |
How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together? |
We know two or three more chords at this point. Jared is fancier. I think we just stopped saying no to something cause it wasn't what we thought we should do in our songs. |
NWho writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? |
I (Kyle) normally bring a skeleton of music to our lab and we turn it into a living being together. It's kind of like the movie weird science but without having bra's on our heads..... we make Lisas. Our first record we used a lot of movies for references and inspiration. Our new stuff is a little more grounded in the horrors of reality. The worlds so fucked and scary right now that fictional horror is almost comedy at this point. Nick and myself handle the lyrical side of things. |
Who are your influences? |
This is always tough to answer. We like a lot of stuff. Slayer, Motorhead, the Ramones, Ac/dc to stuff like Echo and the bunny men , Depeche Mode, the cure, Pink Floyd, Bowie or even more modern stuff like Alkaline trio, A Wilhelm Scream, or Ghost. Of course we love lots of punk rock from the first wave all way until now but our tastes are just so much more than that. If it's good or has a certain something about it , we can most of the time vibe with that. People probably think we only listen to Danzig's bands and that's fine too cause all that shit rules. Also who doesn't like the danger in groups like NWA or GNR am I right? |
What inspired the song Faster n Harder than Death? |
Where we are from. Most of our friends either played music, skated, surfed, or all of the above. So it's just a song for people, anyone, really like that with a tribe who go hard for each other and represent to the fullest in what they do and for those you lose along the journey you carry on and honor them in that as well. Their memory and energy and spirts pushing you forward. That's faster and harder than death. |
Most Memorable Performance so far? |
We been very fortunate to have some really cool shows, but we recently opened for CKY and the crowd just showed us lots of love while we were playing and we had great sound and it was just one of those moments when everything clicked. We sounded good, we looked good, and the vibe in the room was just set off. We somehow manage to trick people into showing us a lot of love during or after we play so we really enjoy most our shows. If someone is stoked enough to come up and pay a bunch of goons who really have no idea what they are doing a compliment after we are done that's what it's about for us. Getting people stoked. We find the one guy who's not getting off and... oh wait that's from almost famous.. |
What do you have planned for 2019? |
We have a new 5 song ep (the physical copy may have 6?) being released through Shirley Road records, which is a new label from our hometown started by this rad dude Cj who we also tricked into thinking we were good. He was always at our shows and buying and wearing our merch and it turns out he started this little label but he's been putting out bands from all over so it's cool and we are really stoked to see what happens with all that. We are also planning on re-releasing our first record which up to this point we only had on bandcamp and single pressing that's been out of print for over a year. We hope to play more shows and record even more music after that and just continue making this art cause that's what we do. Also we hope to play lots of punk rock Smackdowns if Sean will let us. |
